I have been lucky enough to live in some of the most beautiful and interesting places in the world – charming English villages, New Zealand’s sub-tropical North, a beach paradise in Bermuda and the excitement of Silicon Valley. These places make great locations for my books.
I grew up in England. After I married, my husband and I set off to find fame and fortune overseas – actually we went in search of sunshine, as we were tired of the wet English weather. After six months in Bermuda – fabulous vacation spot, job prospects not so hot – we moved to New Zealand. We had a great lifestyle there, plus first house, boat and son. Then came the Silicon Valley explosion, and we moved to California where my husband worked at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center and I joined Hewlett Packard.
Life in Silicon Valley was exciting and completely exhausting but I loved it. I became one of the first women managers at Hewlett Packard and after a long career there, ended up as Vice President of Tandem Computers.
We had the sense to leave the rat race when we were in our mid-50s and returned to New Zealand where we lived in a fabulous beach-side property in the sub-tropical North. With time on my hands at last, I started writing.
Now I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest – close to lakes mountains, beach and down-town Seattle – a perfect spot for writing. I published my mysteries, Deadly Deception in 2004, What To Do About Emma in 2015, and Hidden Depths, in 2016. My non-fiction book, The Second Torpedo, was published in 2012.
Let me know what you think about my books. There’s nothing more valuable to me than feedback from a mystery fan.
I would also like to hear from anyone who has read my memoir. It describes my experiences as a child when SS Volendam was attacked by a U-boat in mid-Atlantic.
